Warrior Dash - Where it All Began

This is where it my journey began, although I didn't realize it at the time. A good friend of mine asked if I would run this event called "Warrior Dash" I'd never heard of to support his getting back into good health. Hell yeah I will!

Air Half-Jew!

He had some major health problems and bounced back like the rockstar beast that he is and I'd certainly be there to support so I signed up immediately. I of course assumed I was in decent enough shape (a 3K obstacle course? Easy stuff, right?) even though I had barely been working out at all. I had been pretty overweight years earlier and had lost most of the extra tonnage through diet and some form of working out but had been slacking off lately.

Another friend that signed up as well had been doing P90X and Insanity and had gotten great results. I had the DVDs for over a year, just didn't start them due to what I can only imagine was laziness.

Cue the race. After the first hill I realized I was in pretty awful shape.  My friends scooted up the hill and all subsequent ones and destroyed me by almost 20 minutes - and it's a 5K course. Tough pill to swallow I was in such bad condition, but I had a blast doing it and first thing next day I scoured the web for more events. Totally hooked, and the events became a great motivator.
